8 Metrics checked by Keyword Magic Tool
We have already talked in length about various metrics provided by Semrush. Let’s learn about them a bit more. Don’t worry, I’ll try to explain it to you in as easy language as possible. So, please bear with me.
So, the Magic tool provides an 8-fold data for any keyword(There isn’t any term for it but I have devised this term for my own use). These magic 8 metrics can make or break a site. Read on to learn more about these metrics.
1. Search Volume
It refers to the volume (or number) of searches for a particular keyword in a given timeframe. Semrush provides the search volume of keywords for over a period of 12 months. This can help you in understanding the value and analyze the interest of users.
The trend is the amount of interest in a keyword over a timeframe. This tells us how much a keyword has been googled in a given time frame.
3. Cost Per Click
CPC is the price that an advertiser pays for a user’s click on an ad. In Semrush, CPC is displayed as per the country which you are exploring. For instance, if you are researching a keyword in the United States, then the currency for CPC will be displayed as UDS($).
4. Competitive Density
In general, COM refers to the number of unique sellers that compete in a market. This number represents how many advertisers compete for this particular keyword in paid search i.e the level of competition for PPC. In Semrush, this metric is displayed with any value from 0 to 1, with 1 being the hardest. In simple words, if you are just starting out and want to rank faster, then target the keywords with low COM.
5. Keyword Difficulty
KD is the difficulty level to outperform your competitors in the Top 20 search results of Google. KD is often represented in percentage. As a general rule, Higher the difficulty, the more difficult it is to rank. For websites just entering the scene, it is advised to target the keywords with low KD%.
6. SERP Features
Search Engine Results Pages are the pages that are displayed by a search engine in response to a search query by a user. This lets you understand whether your website can rank for a keyword which you are targeting. As a general rule, a common keyword will have more results in SERP, making it difficult to rank for in search engines.
7. Click Potential
It is the predicted chance of getting a click through to your website if your result occupies any position within the Top 20 results of the search results page. This helps to understand whether the user is attracted by your keywords meta description/content description. This in turn will help you to craft better content in the future.
8. Top Competitors
Well, this is pretty self-explanatory. It displays the top competitors which occupy the top ranks for a particular keyword. One of the most important features provided by it is the Backlinks analysis of a competitor. Backlinks are the links on a website that drives traffic to another website. A good number of high-quality backlinks can drive a website to a great rank on the search results.
Other features of Semrush Keyword Magic Tool:
In addition to all the above, one can also audit their own site to find and fix the various errors. This means that it provides a service for On-site SEO analysis. You can work on the meta title, description, tags, internal links, external links, etc and improve the user experience. Google stresses a lot on user experience. If you aren’t able to provide good UX, it will definitely affect your brand in a negative way. Thus, calling a penalty from Google.
Position Tracking of Keywords
It allows finding the position of the keyword on a particular date. You can add various competitors’ links and check the position on which they are competing a given keyword. For example, Let’s say we have a keyword- “Clearance Sale”. We add competitors like Amazon, Ebay, and Flipkart. Now we want to check the position of these URLs. Suppose today, Amazon is ranking 1st followed by eBay and Flipkart. So, we can again see whenever we want, if there is any change in the rankings of the URLs. This feature comes handy while analyzing the competitors.
Social Media Tracker & Poster
It supports cross-platform posting. You can schedule and post to multiple accounts, including those on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. Keep an eye on how often your competitors are publishing, whether or not their follower count is growing, and what posts and hashtags seem to be driving the most engagement. Moreover, you can create, launch, and manage ads on placements within the Facebook network.
Organic Traffic Insights
Learn how Google interacts with your website. This will help you to enhance your SEO and optimize your content. A great feature of this is that you can also connect your Google Search Console or Analytics account and analyze each and every page of your website exhaustively.
Filter by types, related terms, word count, volume, CPC and various other parameters.
Select the relevant keywords and move them to KM. It analyzes and compiles all the chosen keywords. Useful metrics such as KD%, search volume, competitiors, CPC etc. are also displayed.
A maximum of 50 dedicated lists can be created with each containing upto a 1000 keywords.
I can go on and on about the features and functionalities of SEMrush since there are too many. I’ll try to sum up this article now. Maybe i’ll post a separate article for covering different features in detail.
So, now if you ask me – “Should i use SEMrush?”
Why should you start using the SEMrush tool right away?
You, Me, everyone, obviously writes an article with a hope to reach a greater audience. We all want to increase the amount of traffic to our blog/website but we don’t necessarily focus on the traffic generation aspect. For instance, if you write 10 articles, there is a high probability that only 1 or 2 out of those articles will drive traffic to your blog.
But if you are using SEMrush, you can find the keywords which are driving the audience to your competitors. This way, you can craft high-quality content based around those keywords. This will definitely boost your ranking in the SERP for certain keywords.
